She was the second wife of John Cox, Sr. She gave to the following children of John Cox, Sr.;  Salathiel 1833, Sylvester 1837, Julianna 1838, Emmanuel 1839, Anna Maria 1841, Albert 1843 and Malinda 1845.

In the 1850 Federal Census, one year after her husband died, she and her children were living in the 5th Ward of Spring Garden District, Philadelphia County. Living with the family was Allen Smith, 23, stone mason; Elby Strery, 21, stone mason; and Joseph Lewis, 18, (Maryland) carpenter.

Margaret died of Pneumonia Typhoid.

Public Ledger, February 13, 1863, Page 2, Column 5:
COX - On Wednesday, 11th instant, MARGARET COX, widow of the late John Cox,
in the 52d year of her age.
Dearest mother, thou hast left us,
Here thy less we deeply feel;
But 'tis God who hath bereft us,
He can all our sorrows heal.
The friends and relations and those of the family are respectfully invited to attend the
funeral, from her late residence, 1311 Brown st., on Monday morning next, 16th instant
at 9 o'clock. To proceed to Union Church, Whitemarsh, Montgomery county, without
further notice.

Lot 43 of the Union Church cemetery in Whitemarsh Township, Montgomery County:
"Margaret "our mother" widow of late John Cox, died February 11, 1863 age 51y, 4mo, 13d."
