Summary: A boy between eight and nine years of age, named Isaiah D. Worrell, son of John
H. Worrell, of Buddtown, was run over and instantly killed, on Saturday
afternoon(presumably a reference to August 31, 1872). He was standing at the side of a
pair of horses attached to an open wagon, when three parties trotting horses through the
village approached at a rapid rate. The boy attempted to climb into the front of the
wagon, when the horses became frightened by the noise of the passing vehicle, and ran
away. He clung to the wagon for a considerable distance but finally lost his hold, fell to
the ground, and the wheels passed over him. When picked up, life was extinct.
