Valley Springs, Aug.20 - The marriage of Roman H. Berke of Montrose S.D.
and Miss Florence G. Stearns which took place at the brides home in Beaver
Creek township just across the line in Minnesota, was a pleasant affair
and was attended by only the relative of the contracting parties.
The ceremony took place at half past twelve yesterday noon and the
marriage service was read by Rev. J.A. Derome of Sioux Falls.
The bride was attended by Miss Harriet Stearns, her cousin of Hardwick,
Minn. and the bridegroom by Harry Stearns the brides older brother.
At the close of the ceremony a three course dinner was served to the large
company and a general social time enjoyed.
The bride is the second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. J Stearns who are among
the best-known and the most respected residents of Rock County, and is a
most attractive and well educated young woman. The bridegroom is a
son of the Mr. and Mrs. H. Berke of Montrose, the former being one of the
leading business men in that town.
The out of town guests were the following: Mr. and Mrs. H Berke, Byron and
Mayme Berke, Montrose: Mrs. John Zimmer, and Grant Daniels, Sioux
Falls: Mrs. Barron and daughter Francis of Rushmore Minn. Eveline Hanson
of Kanaranzi Minn. Mr. and Mrs. C.H. Stearns, Archer Gilbert and Miss
Harriet Stearns of Hardwick Minn. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Pinney, Chester
and Roland Pinney and Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Stearns of Hills, Minn.: Mr. and Mrs.
Ralph Gibson and children of Beaver Creek, Minn.
The room in which the ceremony was performed was tastefully decorated with
garden flowers, pink and white and the dining room with pansies.
Both the bridegroom and the bride are graduates of the deaf and dumb
school Faribault, Minn. They will make their home in Montrose, where
the groom is engaged in business.
