Skagway A nice little town only 1/2 mile long, surrounded by mountains on three side and good for lots of jewelry shopping. While it is imbedded at the base of the mountains the port is deep enough to dock our ship.
The welcoming committee:
Never argue with logic
The city of Skagway is behind us - this is our ship docked in the narrow port
The local tavern (everyone has to have one...)
Looks like the jewelry biz had a negative affect on Jeff. Smiths Parlor

Since Skagway, as beautiful a setting as it is, was only good for shopping, we left.
(along with everyone else...)
Off to Haines and a float trip through an Eagle preserve. The scenery from Skagway to Haines was beautiful.
A girl!
Run away! Run away!
The Eagle Preserve The beginning of our float
This is a game of "Find the Eagle"
Some pictures of the float
There's a young Eagle sitting on a log in this picture - the young ones don't have the white feathers yet
There's my dad
There's my kids
There's my step-mom
The water made some interesting cuts into the shoreline
Yes, we did float into that tree - and get stuck. In fact, the river was shallow enough that there was a lot of getting stuck. Getting unstuck was much like dancing in your car (lots of bouncing in your seat).
(mouse over for the unsticking)
One, two, three...
Cheers to a hard days work.
