Canton Billiard League

General Rules

We are an in-house league. We currently play out of Fiddlestix Billiard Cafe located at 5350 Fulton Drive NW, Canton, Ohio.

League Dues The cost for the adult leagues is $10.00 for the entry fee, $15.00 per night for league dues plus table time. Currently, Fiddlestix charges us a very modest table rate in the amount of $6 per player for the tables each league night. Please note, 100-percent of the league dues shall be returned in the form of prize money. Players are responsible for their dues even when games are missed. There is full disclosure of how the prize money is distributed.

Entree Fee The entree fee shall cover expenses including printer paper and ink, envelopes, postage, photocopies plus secretary and treasurer fees.

Reporting Scores Each player is responsible for making available their score by either: 1. Submitting the score to the league secretary by phone, email, text or; 2. Posting the score and any runs on the bulletin board immediately after the game is played.

Prize Money Prize money is paid to the player with the high run in the straight league and the player with the most run outs in the 8-ball and 9-ball leagues. In addition, prize money is paid to the player with the most 9-balls on the break (or 8-balls depending on the game). Bonus money shall be paid to the top one-half of the standings. The bonus money shall consist of 40% of the prize money after the above categories are paid. The champion shall receive one-half of the bonus money. The second place finisher shall receive an amount equal to one-half of the amount paid to the champion. The third place finisher shall receive an amount equal to one-half of the amount paid to second place. Each player shall receive exactly one-half of the amount paid to the player above him. After the last place finisher of the top-half is paid, any remaining money shall be returned to the general prize money distributed to all players. The general prize money consists of the remaining half of the prize money. It shall be paid on a pro-rata basis to all players in the league based on their total points earned for the season to the total points in the league. For example, a player who earns 10-percent of the total points accumulated by the league, shall receive 10-percent of the prize money. This money is paid to all players in the league.

Makeup Games If you are unable to play, you should call your opponent prior to league play and reschedule the match. There shall be a thirty-minute grace period before a player is given a forfeit. Any player who doesn't arrive for a scheduled match, or arrives after 7:30 p.m., without calling beforehand forfeits the match. However, in the spirit of league play, consideration should be given to allow for emergencies, unforeseen problems, etc. Two forfeits in a row may result in automatic disqualification from the league and loss of prize money. Makeup games must be played within one week prior to any position round (knockdown) or they are automatically forfeited. Any players who quits the league forfeits all prize money. Further, any such player shall be required to pay for the entire league season in advance in the future.

Miscellaneous The straight, 9-ball and 1-pocket leagues are handicapped. If you are a new member you are being asked to rate yourself for two reasons: 1. To establish a starting average and handicap in case we don't know you. 2. So there is mutual agreement between you and the league as to your starting average. The intent of rating yourself is to establish a reasonable handicap on the outset. The Canton Billiard League has been in existence for nearly four decades and, therefore, has established averages for several hundred players in Stark County. You may compare your ability to any of the players in the attached spreadsheet to establish your starting average. "A" to "D". The "A" players are the best players in our area, requiring no handicap in order to compete even against the best players while "D" players require the highest handicaps. "B" players require a handicap against only the best players and "C" players often require a handicap but consistently beat "D" players. All Straight Pool, 9-ball and 1-pocket games shall be played on the Diamond tables unless both players mutually agree to play on a 7' table. All 8-Ball games shall be played on the 7' tables unless both players mutually agree to play on a big table. Runs do not count unless the respective game is played on the primary table. All games must be played at Fiddlestix.
