Meetings
Sec.
1. Regular meetings shall be held _______
a month at the time and date as decided by
the Local Union. The International Office shall
be advised of the time, date, and location
of regular Local Union meetings and also of
any future changes. The membership shall be
notified of any change in regular meeting dates.
Sec.
2. Only the Business Manager or the
Executive Board may call special meetings.
The members shall be notified in writing (by
mail, leaflets, in the Union newspaper, or
on accessible bulletin boards) of any
special meeting. No business shall be transacted
at any special meeting except that for which
it has been called.

Sec. 1. The local
union should identify whether they will meet
once or twice a month. The time, date and location
of the meeting are not included in the bylaws.
However, local unions are required to advise
the International office of these specifics
and any changes made at some later time. This
practice eliminates the need to amend the bylaws
each time a change is made but allows for publication
of the meeting information in the local union
Directory.
Under Article XV, Section 1 of the IBEW Constitution,
local unions are not permitted to hold more
than two (2) regular meetings per month. The
Constitution requires all local unions to meet
on a monthly basis.
Local unions may decide to replace the regular
meeting with monthly meetings of the units
where units have been established. Substitute
articles may be found in a subsequent section
of these pattern bylaws for Articles II,
III,
and XVI,
to fully implement the unit concept. However,
a number of local unions utilize the unit concept
without involving these substitute provisions
for meetings, elections, and for amendments
to the bylaws. Generally, full implementation
is preferred since it allows the members to
more fully participate in the decisions of
the local union. |
