and submit its report to the Local Union for

in these bylaws. The Executive Board shall
also investigate and pass upon all traveling
cards in full accordance with Article XXIII

within sixty (60) days after the application
or traveling card has been presented for Board

Sec. 1. All decisions
of the Executive Board, except those in conjunction
with their duties as a Trial Board, are subject
to approval by the local union. Under Article
XVII, Section 14, of the IBEW Constitution,
the Executive Board is required to “…cooperate
fully with the other officers and representatives
of the Local Union….”
Sec. 4. Where the
President is also a member of the Executive
Board, the local union may decide that he/she
is to serve as Chairman. Where the Recording
Secretary is a member of the Board, the local
union may decide that he/she is to serve as
Secretary of the Board. However, the local
union may decide to allow the board to elect
their own Chairman and/or Secretary from among
the members of the Board. If the President
also serves as Business Manager, he/she may
not serve as a member of the Board and thus,
may not serve as its Chairman.
The Recording Secretary may not serve as Secretary
of the Executive Board unless he/she is also
a member of the Board. Only Board members and
the Business Manager or President/Business
Manager (whichever the case may be) are entitled
to remain in the Board meeting. In accordance
with Article XVII, Section 11, of the IBEW
Constitution, all other persons are to be excused
after they have been heard or presented their
business to the Board.
Sec. 5. The IBEW
Constitution Article XVII, Section 9, requires
the Executive Board to meet between regular
meetings of the local union. This does not
mean immediately prior to or immediately following
the local union meeting since the primary duty
of the Board is to “take any action that the
local union can take and which should be taken
prior to the next meeting of the local union.” |
